OUR MISSION

The Bettye J. Dixon Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness of Alzheimer’s disease by generating support for medical research and providing scholarships for caregivers to attain the most comprehensive education and certifications required for tending to patients.

About Us

The Bettye J. Dixon Foundation was established in 2014 to support medical research related to Alzheimer’s disease and to assist and empower the caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients. Founder, Bettye J. Dixon’s passion and commitment to researching all phases of the disease has compelled her to establish a foundation that would be a driving force in assisting caregivers to attain the most comprehensive education and certifications required for tending to patients having Alzheimer’s and related diseases.

Having dealt with her mom’s progression with Alzheimer’s over several years, Bettye experienced the challenges of managing the care of her mom, while maintaining hope for a medical breakthrough. With the demanding responsibility of operating her business, she recognized her limited knowledge of caring for an Alzheimer’s patient, and witnessed the overwhelming need for “quality care” for those enduring this disease. Subsequently, Bettye evaluated numerous caregivers prior to finally placing her mom in a home for assisted living where they were both comfortable. However, deep down she knew that her mom needed more specialized care to have the quality of life, dignity, and independence during her illness.

From these challenges, Bettye’s compassion evolved into a determination to support and advance the medical research for

Alzheimer’s, and to enhance the care of patients with the disease. She drew upon her connection with friends and colleagues who were directly involved in neurological studies, and has since seen first-hand the remarkable findings and effects of Alzheimer’s. She is encouraged that current research may eventually lead to slowing the progression of the disease, and ultimately, the prevention and cure for Alzheimer’s.

Through loving eternal care for her mom, who passed away in 2012, and the compassion for others who are currently experiencing the same, or like, illness; Bettye believes that an accelerated study of the disease will produce avenues for early prevention and/or treatment.

“…Bettye’s compassion evolved into a determination to support and advance the medical research for Alzheimer’s… “

“…deep down she knew that her mom needed more specialized care to have the quality of life, dignity, and independence during her illness.”
