BETTYE J. DIXON FOUNDATION JOINING RALLY AGAINST ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE
Alzheimer’s Assn. Walk to End Alzheimer’s® returns to Century Park, Los Angeles, CA
LOS ANGELES, CA (October 29, 2015) – The Bettye J. Dixon Foundation will join the 23rd annual Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® in Los Angeles, which will take place Sunday, November 8 at Century Park (2000 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles, 90067) with Steve Edwards, Anchor of Good Day LA as MC for his 20th year. More than 3,000 participants, including celebrities, individuals and teams will join the 5k walk through Century City with the goal of raising more than $800,000 in support of the Alzheimer’s Association. In addition to a 5K route, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s includes entertainment, food, and a family festival. Walkers who raise $100 receive a commemorative T- shirt. Onsite registration opens at 7 a.m., opening ceremonies begin at 8:30 and the walk begins at 9 a.m.
A fun morning to raise awareness and funds, featuring music by Mark Sellers & Wildhorse! A singer/songwriter whose music transcends generations, Mark has opened for artists including Taylor Swift, Leon Russell, Junior Brown, the late Nicolette Larson, Jack Ingram, and Bob Weir (Grateful Dead) and graced stages from LA to Nashville. Mark also brings extra action to our venue through his past as a world-class dancer, performing for two seasons on Solid Gold and with superstars like Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Tim McGraw, Dwight Yoakam, and Clint Black. He and his band will play classic favorites and maybe an original or two. In addition to Mark Sellers, the 23rd annual Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® Los Angeles will feature TJ Jackson, from the the Jacksons Next Generation and the hugely popular band, 3T, as well as Rafer Johnson, Ken Howard and other celebrities.
In California, nearly six hundred thousand people have Alzheimer’s disease. Experts estimate that someone in the U.S. develops Alzheimer’s disease every 67 seconds. By mid-century someone will develop Alzheimer’s disease every 33 seconds.
